USIM BAGGED 4 MEDALS IN LONDON

The 8th British Invention Show (BIS08) which was held on 15 October 2008 to 18 October 2008 at Alexandra Palace, London, UK is one of UK’s largest Innovation Expo (http://www.britishinventionshow.com/). This exhibition is a major annual international exhibition to bring together hundreds of inventors from around the world where they are judged by a panel of leading experts in the field of industry and invention. The British invention of the Year Judges will award Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals to those who in the opinion of the Judges have reached the standard required. Each invention is evaluated at least by 2 judges from all over the world. There were more than 200 research projects displayed at this exhibition. The research projects presented were: 1) Product    :    Efficient Control of Virus Propagation Commercial Name    :     ECOVP Description    :      A new ECOVP system that has a built-in standard virus incident handling procedure which can educate users in handling procedure which can educate users in handling computer virus  incidents  and helps to control computer virus propagation. Inventors name    :    Madihah Mohd Saudi, Nazean Jomhari, Mohd Zaini Mat Abas, Shaharudin Ismail 2) Product    :    Efficient Detection of Worms Attack Based on Payload Commercial Name    :     EDOWA Description    :      A new EDOWA system, specifically meant for the payload, is used to detect the worms attack efficiently and provide an early warning to the system administrator. Inventors name    :    Madihah Mohd Saudi, Emran Mohd Tamil, Mohd Yamani Idna Idris 3) Product    :    Efficient Defensive from Virus infection through Apoptosis Commercial Name    :     EDVITA Description    :      A new and unique system which is inspired by Apoptosis which has dual functionalities, which is to detect and prevent virus infection. Inventors name    :    Madihah Mohd Saudi, Andrea J Cullen, Mike E Woodward, Hanina Mohd Noor 4) Product    :    JAWI Character Recognition Tool Commercial Name    :     E-JAWI Description    :    A new system that combines Optical Characters Recognition (OCR) and 36 JAWI (Arabic) characters to help user understands and differentiates Arabic letters. Inventors name    :    Madihah Mohd Saudi, Zaidi Razak, Mohd. Yamani Idna Idris, Emran Mohd Tamil, Noorzaily Mohamed, Prof. Dr. Mohd Yakub @ Zulkifli Mohd Yusof, Mohd. Azharis Abu Bakar Generally, this exhibition is a very good starting place for the inventors to promote their invention or product and to benchmark whether their product has fulfilled the standards required by the industries and consumers.  The achievement for these research projects requires the collaboration and support of many people. In fact, its building blocks are laid over the years with the contribution of numerous persons. All the researches were awarded with a medal. From these achievements, it is hoped that USIM will be an active player in annual international exhibitions for international recognition.  This will increase the credibility and reputation of USIM’s staff as a world class contributors especially on malicious codes. The awards are a form of  international recognition for personal development as well as enhancing  professionalism.
